Temu profitability

True profit on every Temu order — not a sales headline.

Temu reports what a shopper paid. WhatSales works out what you actually kept. Each order is rebuilt from its raw parts, then every real cost is subtracted to give you profit and margin per order and per SKU.

Every Temu order is reconstructed from its components — principal, shipping, tax and any platform bonus — so the starting number is the real one, not an estimate. WhatSales then deducts the costs that decide whether an order made money:

  • PlatformBonus shown as its own line inside the order total, so promo-funded orders aren't mistaken for under-earning.
  • Temu referral fees pulled from the order, not guessed at a flat rate.
  • Shipping & shipping tax, including labels you buy through Temu.
  • Product cost (COGS) and any per-unit or operational costs you add.
  • Tax / VAT liability, with claimable amounts separated out.

The result is an estimated profit and margin you can trust — the figure that reaches your bank, ready to sort, filter and trend across your whole catalogue.

The price you sell to Temu vs the price Temu sells to shoppers

Under Temu's managed model there are two different prices on the same sale. Reading only one of them hides your real position — so WhatSales shows both.

You sell to Temu
The supply price Temu pays into your account.
£26.03
Temu's markup surfaced, not hidden
Temu sells to shopper
The retail price the customer actually paid.
£36.62

Seeing both lets you confirm your payout matches the agreed price and base every decision on the amount that truly lands with you.

Temu Buy Shipping

Buy Shipping costs, counted against every sale.

When you fulfil Temu orders yourself and buy the label through Temu Buy Shipping, that cost is a real deduction — one that quietly turns healthy-looking sales into thin or negative margins if it's ignored.

WhatSales captures shipping and shipping tax from the order itself and subtracts them in the profit calculation, so your margin reflects delivery, not just the item.

And when the shipping cost hasn't come through on an order, WhatSales doesn't quietly assume zero. It flags the order — the same "shipping charges are missing" warning you'll see in the app — so you can add the cost and keep the number honest.

Temu refunds

Refunds that actually hit your bottom line.

A refund reverses revenue, but it rarely returns every cost. WhatSales ties each refund back to its original order so your profit reflects what really happened — not the sale you thought you made.

Track refund rate per SKU and per marketplace, so rising returns show up before they eat your margin.

WhatSales · Temu Refunds Dashboard
WhatSales Temu refunds dashboard showing total refunds, refunded value, refund trends over time and per-order refund detail with refund ratio and product loss
Straight from the app: total refunds, refunded value and the most common refund reason for your Temu store — with refund ratio, product loss and payment refund detail per order.
WhatSales · Order-level refund detail
WhatSales order-level Temu refund rows showing time returned after order, refund ratio per SKU, refund commission, send shipping and product loss per refund
Every refund traced to its order: how quickly the item came back, refund ratio for the SKU, and the exact commission, shipping and product loss on each return.

Because refunds are reported against the order, you can tell the difference between a product that sells well and one that simply sells a lot and comes back — and act on the SKUs quietly draining profit.

Product Diagnostics

See where each SKU earns the most.

If you sell the same product on Temu and elsewhere, the best channel isn't the one with the highest sales — it's the one with the highest profit after fees, shipping and refunds. Product Diagnostics lines the same SKU up across every connected marketplace so the winner is obvious.

Same SKU · Rotary airerRevenueFees + shippingRefundsProfit
Temu Best£34.62£4.86£0.00£13.38
Marketplace B£31.99£7.20£0.64£9.15
Marketplace C£29.50£8.40£1.10£5.90

For each SKU, Product Diagnostics compares revenue, costs and profit side by side across your connected channels — so you can see at a glance which marketplace pays best for that item.

That turns everyday questions into decisions: where to push stock, where to raise prices, and which channels are quietly losing money on a product that looks like a bestseller elsewhere.

Questions

Temu sellers ask

How does WhatSales calculate profit on a Temu order?+
Each order is rebuilt from its raw components — principal, shipping, tax and shipping tax — then WhatSales deducts platform referral fees, shipping, your product cost (COGS) and any tax or VAT liability. What's left is estimated profit and margin, per order and per SKU.
Does it show the difference between the price I sell to Temu and Temu's customer price?+
Yes. WhatSales surfaces both the price Temu pays you and the price the shopper paid, so you can see Temu's markup, confirm your payout matches the agreed supply price, and make decisions based on the amount that actually reaches your account.
Are Temu Buy Shipping costs included in profit?+
Shipping and shipping tax captured on the order are subtracted in the profit calculation, so your margin reflects delivery as well as the item. If shipping data is missing from an order, WhatSales flags it so you can add the cost rather than overstating profit.
How are Temu refunds tracked?+
Refunds are tracked against the original order, with refund ratio reported and refund reasons surfaced — so you can see which SKUs are eroding profit and understand why the returns are happening.
Can I compare Temu against my other marketplaces?+
Product Diagnostics lines up the same SKU across every connected marketplace and compares revenue, costs and profit side by side, so you can identify which channel performs best for each item.
Can I list on Temu and other channels at the same time?+
Flow lets you publish and update listings across multiple stores, marketplaces and regions — including Temu — from one place, so a single edit rolls out to every connected channel.
