Amazon FBA peak storage triples and Prime Big Deal Days lands

Q4 costs switch on this week: Amazon's peak FBA storage rates land on 1 October, the Amazon Business delivery requirement starts 30 September, Walmart's old API keys expire and TikTok's fee waiver closes, all days before Prime Big Deal Days on 6-7 October. If you sell on more than one channel, several of your cost lines change in the same 72 hours.

FBA peak storage rates start on Wednesday

FBA peak storage rates start on Wednesday

Under Amazon's 2026 US fee structure, monthly storage for standard-size, non-dangerous goods moves from around $0.78 per cubic foot for January to September to about $2.40 per cubic foot for October to December. That sits on top of January's fulfilment fee increase and the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge added in April.

Storage is billed on your average daily cubic feet, so the cost follows volume, not sales. A bulky, slow-moving SKU that was quietly breaking even in September can be loss-making by the end of October without a single price or fee change on the listing itself.

It bites harder if you run one pooled buffer at Amazon and ship other channels from the same stock, because your eBay and Walmart orders end up carrying Amazon's peak storage rate. You will not see it in your bank account until November's settlement, which is exactly the lag /profitability is built to close.

What to do: pull units on hand against 30-day sales velocity in /inventory, and for anything with more than 90 days of cover, raise a removal or liquidation order before Wednesday and relist those units on your other channels through /flow rather than paying peak rates to store them.

Prime Big Deal Days runs 6-7 October

Prime Big Deal Days runs 6-7 October

Amazon has confirmed Prime Big Deal Days for 6-7 October 2026, opening 12:01am PDT on 6 October with 48 hours of Prime-exclusive deals across more than 35 categories. Prime members in 22 countries can take part, dates vary by country, and early deals are already live.

The margin risk is stacking. A deal discount, deal fees, higher ad costs during the event and the new peak storage rate all hit the same units, and the discounted price often has to be matched on eBay, your own store and Walmart to avoid price-parity problems. A 20% discount that worked in July can be a negative-margin sale in October.

The second effect is stock. Two days of event volume can drain a SKU that also feeds your other channels, and you spend the rest of October out of stock at full price instead of in stock at full price.

What to do: set a floor price per SKU this week based on true net margin after referral fee, fulfilment, peak storage and expected ad spend, check it in /profitability before you approve any deal, and watch channel-level sell-through in /performance during the 48 hours so you can pull a deal that is selling below your floor.

Quick hits

  • Amazon: UK sellers reported a surge of 'abnormal' orders stuck in pending from around 20 September, often on items priced £100 or more - the stock sits locked and genuine buyers cannot check out.
  • Amazon Business: from 30 September, professional sellers in the US, UK and Germany need a Business Hour Delivery Rate of 90% or higher on seller-fulfilled B2B orders - still short by 30 October and those offers are switched off for business buyers.
  • eBay: standalone airbags, inflators and steering wheel airbag covers are banned and the 24 September removal deadline has passed - eBay is now removing leftover listings itself, so check live, scheduled and draft items and your feed rules.
  • Etsy: the September update adds up to five staff logins on their own accounts, a third listing variation, ad groups for large Etsy Ads catalogues and wider listing appeals - no more sharing your shop password.
  • Walmart: old Delegated Access API keys stop working at the end of September - reauthorise your listing or order tool through the Walmart App Store on OAuth 2.0 or syncing breaks.
  • TikTok Shop: the Fulfilled by TikTok Hub Placement Fee waiver for units up to 16oz closes 1 October, holiday stock should be inbound by 15 October, and FBT stock can now fulfil orders from other channels.

On your radar next week

  • Tuesday 30 September: Amazon Business 90% Business Hour Delivery Rate requirement starts, with deactivations from 30 October.
  • Tuesday 30 September: last working day for Walmart Delegated Access API keys.
